First in a 3 part series illustration for Edgar Allan Poe’s Tell-Tale Heart. Instead of a literal interpretation of events, my series focused on the theme of madness within the story.
This first one shows the narrator opening the door to the old man’s room. Although the narrator has spied on the old man several times, nothing had happened before because his vulture eye had remained closed. This time is different. Tonight the cursed vulture eye will be open, inciting the narrator to kill him. He opens the door to the old man, to his vulture eye, and to his own insanity. This was posted too late for Halloween, I’m afraid!

キャラクターイラストの授業。携帯会社とカナダベール会社のキャラクター。この課題は楽しかった!
The assignment was to draw company characters, the one on the left was for a cell phone company in Japan. For the one on the right sensei asked me to do a Canadian company.. I don’t think beer companies here would ever use cute cartoon mascots but it’s fun to pretend haha.
ビセンで最後の課題を終わった!嬉しいけどちょっと寂しい。みんなと一緒に勉強して楽しかった。いつか札幌に帰りたい。
I haven’t uploaded my illustrations from character design class yet, but today was my last day at Bisen, and this was the last assignment. The problem was to choose a client that suits our illustration style and make a piece of promotional work for it. I chose to do an animalistic spin on a piece for a boxing club,
やっと完成した!先生から完成をもらって凄く嬉しかった。
Finally finished! Mostly acrylics, with some acrylic gouache.

Spirits of the Smelly Shoes!
Done with gouache. I should have taken the photo properly before I handed it in because the horizon line and cropping is way off. Stupid me.
I am debating whether or not to buy a set of gouache while I’m here.. The Japanese company Turner makes this awesome acrylic gouache that has the colour brilliance and matte look of regular gouache but is water resistant after it’s dry, like acrylics. Best of both worlds! I really like the vibrancy but also the fact that you can keep layering colour, which eventually starts to get gunky with regular gouache.
Does the world need more skull illustrations? Probably not but I combined it with a fuzzy creature to make it more interesting. This is the second うちわillustration. I think I only had maybe one hour left to crank out this one. :\ It’s not over yet! Right now we’re making mini food sculptures of popular Japanese street food. They definitely go all out here for their school festivals! ..
Had only a few hours to make two illustrated fans, うちわ for our school festival. Here is the first one.. I just quickly used a photo of Amanda I had taken for reference
